I'm trapped in the sadness
This hell won't release
It floods me with darkness
It doesn't bring me peace.

I try with all I have
To feel that I belong
Worthy of this time
Of loves gentle song.

This enigma escapes me
This that I've never known
A heart that beats with love
From actions that are shown.

I try to feel wanted
But at times its hard to see
For tears block the view
From the sadness that consumes me.

A heart that beats each day
Craving a gentle touch
Of loves sweet passion
That my soul hungers for so much.

My smile to the world
Is only a mask
That covers the deeper pain
The more daunting task.

So I breathe in deeply
Trying to feel I'm here
Smiling through the pain
Of holding back a tear.
